Summary: For belladhanna, who was wondering why there weren't any stories about how Eliot woke up to Hardison's voice in The Carnival Job.
Reccer Notes: The use of sound effects in this podfic BLOWS ME AWAY, every time I listen to it. sunspot has taken a story that's already very interior - in the middle of an episode, sitting in the dark in the back of Lucille, inside Hardison's head - and amplified that quality in the best possible way. Through the use of keyboard typing, audible breathing, and strategically-placed empty air, sunspot has crafted a podfic that will have you smack-dab in the middle of the action, seeing directly out of Hardison's eyes.
You would expect such an experience to be jarring - throwing you head-first into someone else's perspective, so abruptly - but sunspot has made this podfic into something quite the opposite. As the listener, you ARE Hardison - and the only disorientation you feel is exactly what Hardison's feeling, as he struggles to find Eliot even as he's limited by the reach of his tech. The emotion sunspot delivers in this podfic is real, and visceral, and highlighted by the dialogue-and-sfx-only format to an incredible degree. Listening to this podfic absolutely feels like a moment pulled straight from the episode - to the point where I looked up The Carnival Job on youtube immediately after I finished this podfic for the first time, just to REALLY make sure everyone was alright.
